Similarly to the Side Table, I made the simple bench out of a retired woodcut block from The Cosmic Humor of Tin Roosters. I needed a place to sit and take off my shoes in my apartment and I wanted to make the bench out of materials I already had on hand and that I had a personal connection to. Not only is this a sturdy and comfortable item, but it marries complex and unique visual elements of carved plywood with a simple and utilitarian design.
